Supermarket News, a leading food retailing magazine, named SimonDelivers the winner of the Online Sales Category for their 2006 Technology Excellence Awards. To earn this award, SimonDelivers demonstrated expertise and effectiveness in using technology while being a leader in promoting technology in the food retailing industry. SimonDelivers credits a portion of their success to the Roadnet Transportation Suite. The online grocer implemented Roadnet to create optimal last-mile delivery routes. A very important function since they promise shoppers a two hour time window for deliveries. Roadnet makes delivery planning more efficient by allowing them to narrow down specific delivery arrival time to within 15 minutes on the morning of the delivery.
The company also invested in the mobile resource management tool, MobileCast®, to track their driver’s location, the status of deliveries on the route and any changes that have been made within that route. This allows SimonDelivers access to up-to-date information to easily update their delivery time estimates.
